Michelle's close call

Michelle Obama yesterday barely avoided becoming a statistic when her "Presidential" 737 (a military C-40 of the"Presidential fleet")came within three miles of a military C-17. Or at least that is what is passing as "news." So why do I bring it up?

1. There were not even close to being in danger -- ask ANY professional pilot.

2. Jill Biden (yeah, that Biden) was also on the plane.

3. Not one major news source bothered to publish why their cherished Michelle was on a 737 in the first place. Why is the first news outlet to mention this that I can find is from Omaha? http://www.omaha.com/article/20110420/AP/110429994

And herein is the news-worthy item: Michelle and Jill had been to New York to appear on a television show .... Yes, First Lady and Vice First Lady were out pre-campaign stumping on the public dollar (in a 7-freaking-37 no less). Couldn't they take Amtrack? Or even one of the dozens of G5's and other small jets -- or even a helicopter? Does the unelected First Lady deserve the perk reserved for the Speaker of the House (Pelosi got it upgraded to a military 757 -- before that, it was an 8 seat executive jet)?

Where is the outrage from the Liberal press about the grossest waste of assets and fuel at a time when most American families are hurting to fill their gas tanks? How about that vegetable garden, Michelle? How much do have to plant to negate the carbon footprint of your trip?

George Carlin stated: "a collision is a near miss," this was a near hit.
